Day # 305 Will Sing For Food

Well,  Mr. Squirrel found the pumpkin and I got some great shots . I think this is my favorite . Can't believe all the devastation that Sandy caused and the pictures I am seeing .  I hope these towns and neighborhoods will one day be whole again. I feel very lucky and blessed as I get up and down to greet the trick or treaters at my door.

Day #304 Treating The Birdie

Well, the storm is over and no damage to the house. Looks like New York and New Jersey got the worst of it. The winds were gone this morning but a light rain has been coming down all day. Halloween is back out in the yard for tomorrows trick or treaters. I put this pumpkin on the deck and added some peanuts inside it hoping for some squirrels but they never found it. These birds love peanuts and just kept coming back for them.

Day #303 Hold On My Feathered Friends

We have had rain and wind all day. The government in DC , area schools, and transit had the day off. There are already 50,000 in the metro area without power , thankfully I'm not one of them yet. The strongest winds are expected to hit within the hour and going through the night. Didn't leave the house other than to bring halloween decorations inside this morning. Was real surprised to see all these birds at the feed through my window. Can't believe they are able to fly in these winds.

Day #302 Trick Or Treat

Home safe and sound. With wind and rain expected for days thought this might be the last time I can get a picture of my house.  Sandy is still on the way and they have already cancelled school for the next two days. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worse.

Day #301 Preparing For SANDY

We've had two great days at the beach but a mandatory evacuation has been issued so we will be leaving in the early morning. Thousands of people were here for all the Seawitch Festival activities and everything tomorrow has been canceled. Fifty thousand people are expected to leave so the ride home may be a very slow one.......
All the building are being boarded up in hopes of surviving hurricane Sandy. Seemed a fitting picture for my project .

Day #300 Before The Storm

It's a big Halloween weekend in Rehobeth beach and my brother offered me his beach house months ago so planned a girls get away. What we couldn't predict was a hurricane named Sandy. We came anyway and will keep up with the weather forecast. Had dinner outside at one of the restaurants while watching the sunset. Was very overcast with a ho hum sunset till it actually set and then the magic began.

Day #299 Off The Path

Thought I'd see if there was some mist on the lake at sunrise. Nope, so stopped at the path behind the house on the way home. Most of the color is now down low and lots of yellow. Thought I'd step off the path for some shots . Autumn is fading quickly.

Day #298 Photo Club For A Day

Had a great time meeting and shooting pictures today on this fall photo trip. Since I brought my tripod along I asked everyone if I could get a quick shot of us. For some reason my clicker wouldn't go off . I walk toward the camera pushing the button and finally beep, better run, beep, crap, turn and here it is. lol   Lots of fab shots but I wanted to have this one in my blog.

Day #297 Soldiers Of The Lake

Got to love the changing of the guard. Not sure how much longer I have with this scene but I don't think I'll ever tire of it.  Blackhills is a gold mine of color. Tomorrow I signed up for a fall photo tour starting here on a pontoon boat and ending with a van ride to the Catoctin mountains. Going to have some great weather and I hope wonderful pictures. First time doing something like this and it will be nice I think being with others that love photography. Most times it's just me and my camera.....

Day #296 Top Of The Mountain II

Back up the mountain I go. It's been seventeen days since I climb this mountain and what was green is now multi colored or laying on the ground. Winter is coming but for now I'm really enjoying my muli colored world outside......

Day #295 The FLy Bye

Decided why go look for this when I know exactly where it is so back to Blackhills I went. It seems a very popular place for photographs and you can see why. Noticed two families that had profession photographers taking their pictures at different locations around the park. One couples little boy wanted nothings to do with it and every time I happened upon them it wasn't going well. Think I'll stick with the trees for now.

Day #294 Pop-arazzi arrive

Well, I'm back at Blackhills early and the color is popping. So many colors and so many pictures. I found another spot by the lake and sat on a bench getting shots of kayakers, fisherman and a large flock of ducks coming in for a landing. Thought I'd just go with this peaceful view for now. Was an overcast morning but it made for a very nice sky.

Day #293 I'm Walking In Sunshine

By far my favorite season picture for the path behind my house. Boy does it look fantastic and it seems to have happened overnight. The winter snow kissed shot comes in a close second. On another topic I noticed a spot in my pictures last week and figured out it was dust on the sensor. Bought that ball thing to blow air at it hoping to solve the problem but no luck. Not wanting to send it out I picked up the wet swabs this afternoon and holding my breath cleaned the sensor with it. Yea, the dust is gone and I didn't  hurt the sensor.

Day #292 Pandamonia

With the day off and the rain not expected till evening I decide to go to the zoo. The zoo is preparing for Boo In The Zoo next weekend. Lots of halloween displays set up all over the zoo. Sadly I can't fit it into my schedule this year. It was a wonderful day with the pandas frolicking in their yard and the orangutan monkeys crossing the walkway above. Probably should have picked an animal that hasn't made my project but this was my favorite....

Day #291 After The Falls

Took a drive to the C&O canal after work today. Let's see winter, spring, summer and now fall it looks beautiful in all four seasons. Was the perfect day for a walk down the towpath and I got some nice shots along the way. The colors are really starting to pop and sadly they will be gone too soon.

Day #290 The Three Amigos

Went to visit mom after work and her neighbors boxers came running to see me with their owner trailing behind. Grabbed my camera out of my car and tried to get a couple shots with her help. Having three dogs stay still is not an easy task.....

Day #289 View from my porch

It's a rainy, lazy, recover from the weekend kind of day. Thankfully I'm off on Mondays. I love my street and in the fall it's full of color. Decided to try a shot from the porch. In order to get a better shot I find that I need my tripod and an umbrella because I need to be just a step off the porch.

Day #288 The Walk

Our reason for getting together for the weekend has arrived. Robins dad suffers from the disease of Alzheimer's and we are all there to support and raise money to find a cure. It was a beautiful sunny day and a great turn out and event. Everyone was given a flower before the walk. Each color represents how you are personally affected by Alzheimer's. You can carry it on the walk or plant it in the garden of hope and pick it up when you finish. I hope they find a cure for this awful disease soon.

Day #287 Friends

Went to Virginia Beach for an Alzheimer's walk with some high school girlfriends.  The weather was amazing and we had two days of nonstop fun. It's so nice to spend time with these special friends.

Day #286 Small Town Football

This small town takes its high school football seriously and has won a lot of championships. Even though our two boys did not play and our youngest graduated in 2006, Bob and I still attend a few games a year. It was homecoming night and the place was packed. We were up 37 - 0 at halftime and the temperature was dropping  so after watching the pompom girls ( my favorite thing to see) we headed home. GO HORNETS !!!!!!!!

Day #285 50 Shades Of Fall

Drove through Black Hills after work today checking out the color scale. Trees around the lake just starting to show a little color but some of the trees around the park are really popping. One tree in particular had so many different colors and the ground underneath was littered with its leaves. Took pictures of the tree and of the leaves on the ground when this idea popped into my head. Turned out pretty good since I didn't spend a lot of time making it look perfect. Best part is I thought it up myself :)

Day #284 Wonderful Fall Day

Took a walk around Brookside Gardens today. They were putting christmas lights on a lot of the trees today. They have a winter walk through Holiday Light Display starting at the end of November. The conservatories are filled with Chrysanthemums but they haven't bloomed yet so I'll be back. That's going to look amazing. This happens to be the last shot I took and the second pond this week.

Day #283 Man and Beast

After a movie in Frederick this afternoon I headed downtown for a picture. While I've walked the canal a few times and some how I missed this water fountain. What's so special about these fountains?Well, how often do you see a fountain for dogs. The little foot pedal is a paw and there's a cute dog face behind it. This fountain shows a 12 ft monument that once stood not far from here in 1911. It had a fountain for people, a large basin for horses, and two on the sides for cats and dogs. Thought this was pretty neat.

Day #282 Autumn Arrives

Took Big Red in for his oil change this morning and thought I'd check out the pond I photographed on May 2nd. I walked and got I few shots where I could since this is someones private pond. Must be nice. I actually got this shot but like the point of view better in this one. Funny it's the same overcast day just missing the fog. Spent a good part of the weekend taking pictures so way do I feel guilty only spending five minutes getting todays picture?

Day #281 Roof Top View

Reading the Frederick Post this morning I find it's Railroad Days in historic Brunswick, Md. rain or shine. Well the weather is kind of iffy but I can't pass up a train ride to Harpers Ferry and back. I was able to spend over two hours wandering around Harpers Ferry before the ride back.

Day #280 On Top Of The Mountain

Started the day at the Germantown Octoberfest with Bob. Took a few pictures and made a scarecrow for the front porch. Dropped Bob at home and headed to Mt.Airy Fall Days, a couple more shots and some walking around town. Thought I'd finish the day with a ride to Sugarloaf Mountain and check out the tree color. This is the east view from the top and I'll be back for another shot of this when the color really pops.

Day #279 Lost In A-Maze Of MAze

Back to Butlers Orchard I go for some more fall shots. Thanks goodness it's so close to the house and I don't have to visit on weekends. So many choices but the corn maze was on the top of my list so here it is. I crossed my fingers I'd make it out and as you can see I did. A-mazing
Facts about Butlers that I gathered on my visit today

  1. The Orchard opened in 1950 when George and Shirley Butler purchased 37 acres
   2. It is still family owned now run by the 3rd generation of Butler                                                                 3.They grow strawberries, tart cherries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, apples, straw, and Christmas Trees.... oh and wildflowers including sunflowers.

Day #278 Orange You Glad It's October

Another visit to Butlers looking for my POTD and I found many but decided on this one.

Day #277 Fall Begins

Took a ride on my bike down the path behind the house to check out the color. Not too much yet and why are so many leaves on the ground? Maybe because of the extremely hot summer. Got a wonderful surprise today. My golden boy picture from last month was seen by the Golden Boy himself. He said he happened to see it on the net and signed onto the 365 site I'm on to leave a comment on the picture. This sure is a small world.....and I'm glad he liked it.

Day #276 Love At First Sight

Coming home from the beach two weekends ago we stopped at one of the produce stands for corn and they also had pumpkins. They had a few of these bumpy pumpkins that immediately screamed POTD. I've been patiently waiting to get its picture. It's now October and has been raining most of the day so with the camera on the porch here is my bumpy pumpkin.....

Day #275 Bulls Eye

Bob noticed this spider a couple weeks ago building his web on the corner of the front porch. I've taken his pictures a couple different times at different times of the day to see how light changes the shot. I think the best time of day is early morning when the sun is shining on it before the shade. I'm finally decorating the outside, well trying anyway. Happy October 1st....let the halloween-ing begin.......
