Day #180 Red Light
On my way to volleyball tonight I was face to face with the setting sun through my front windshield. Finally a red light and a quick shot. Heading to the beach for the weekend so I think a better sunset picture is in my future....just one of those craptastic photos in my project .

Day # 179 Meet Furry
Just hanging around the house today. The weather is starting to heat up again, it sure was nice having that little break from the heat. Never noticed how furry this little guy is. Wonder if he gets hot? He reminds me of something you'd see in a Dr. Seuss book.

Day #178 Here kitty kitty kitty
Felt like a day in May so decided to take a quick trip to the zoo. Got lucky and my girlfriend Chris was up for a spur of the moment trip downtown. The animals seemed to be enjoying the nice weather and were very photogenic. This is a Fishing Cat native to south and southeast Asia. Their short, stout legs are built for swimming rather than running or climbing. We just missed him catching a fish but I did capture his happy I'm full look. He sure looks like a house cat on steroids to me.

Day #177 Slippery When Wet...
Took a short drive to the C & O canal this afternoon. You can see the Great Falls from the overlook. This is just about the same view as the one I took Feb.17th. I put a filter on the lens to try and capture the water a little different. Very little success, guess it was just to bright so I will keep trying. The trees are the big difference between February and today.

Day #176 Beauty of A Bridge
Went back today to view the artists work from Easels In Frederick. Got to see the winning painting from yesterdays quick draw. We were both surprised at the first place winner because it was three roof tops and a wire. Seriously what was this judge seeing? We were able to view all the painting from the three day painting event and even added our vote for the peoples choice award. A lot of these painting were already sold and boy they weren't cheap. After we walked the canal so I could take some more pictures. You really need to see this bridge up close to appreciate it's beauty.

Day #175 Under The Bridge
Went to the second annual Easel In Frederick quick draw today. Over thirty artists of all levels lined historical Patrick Street and had two hours to paint a picture of what they were viewing. It was pretty amazing to watch them at work. We arrived early and walked the canal which lines the street. There are wonderful foot bridges you can walk over or under. I have all kinds of photos of the artists at work but once again I really like this random shot I took while under one of the bridges. This group was taking a break from the sun under the bridge. It was perfect except for the guy standing up till I noticed their reflection in the water and I thought no he makes it perfect.

Day # 172 Caliente
Daisy is being a little playful today. It was the hottest day of the year so far reaching 98 degrees. Don't know how long she'll last if this keeps up but I will water tomorrow morning. She still has plenty of friends that have not opened up to say hello. Took this at 6 p.m. and while the temperature has dropped
it is still HOT !!!!

Day #171 Standing Out In The Crowd
The Field Daisy
I'm a pretty little thing,
Always coming with the spring;
In the meadows green I'm found,
Peeping just above the ground,
And my stalk is cover'd flat
With a white and yellow hat.
Little Mary, when you pass
Lightly o'er the tender grass,
Skip about, but do not tread
On my bright but lowly head,
For I always seem to say,
"Surely winter's gone away."
Always coming with the spring;
In the meadows green I'm found,
Peeping just above the ground,
And my stalk is cover'd flat
With a white and yellow hat.
Little Mary, when you pass
Lightly o'er the tender grass,
Skip about, but do not tread
On my bright but lowly head,
For I always seem to say,
"Surely winter's gone away."

Day #170 Singing In The Rain
The daisies around my wishing well are starting to bloom. I think they are one of my favorite flowers and just maybe I'll devote this week to them. Might be easy being that they are in my front yard but coming up with different shots might get challenging...

Day #169 Black Eyed Susan
Goggled field of Sunflowers yesterday and found a place not far from where I live. Went to check it out even thought it said mid July. With everything blooming early this year I didn't want to miss it. I believe I did find the fields but the plants are only a couple inches tall right now. There were plenty of the official Maryland flower the Black Eyed Susan. Will return to the fields in late July and hopefully see a field of sunflowers.

Day # 168 Fading Power of Light
The power lines finally make my project. Have taken or looked at quite a few these last couple months and this is the first view I have wanted to put in my challenge. Got this shot yesterday and went back tonight but sky was so full of clouds that the pictures just aren't as nice so I'm using this one.

Day #167 I'm Back
I took a picture of this barn in March while it was snowing. Mentioned I'd go back when the skies were blue. Was a beautiful late morning with sunny blue skies and a few clouds so I pulled onto the gravel road and went to get my follow up picture. What a difference a season makes and the experience of three months of a photo a day. I believe comparing the shots I have really improved my POV and composition. It's a great feeling to know I am improving.

Day #165 Sails
Spent the whole day in Baltimore watching the ships from around the world coming into the harbor for the Star Spangled Sailabration of the War of 1812. It was a beautiful day to be there enjoying everything that was going on with three of my girlfriends. This picture was taken from the deck of the naval tall ship Cuauhtemoc out of Mexico. It's was a very impressive ship and crew. We took a water taxi to Fells Point for lunch, a water taxi to explore Fort McHenry and a bus ride took us back to the harbor where we were able to board some of the tall ships. Amazing day, Amazing Ships

Day #164 New Boots
Todays forecast rain and it is. Found these colorful rain boots today. How could I pass up fifty dollar boots for seven dollars. Came home and decided to make them my POTD. With umbrella and camera in hand out I went to find a puddle. Noticed the flowers in my vase happened to have some pink and white daisies that matched my boots so I grabbed one on the way out. Bending forward to get the picture I see the reflection of the umbrella, the only way to get the shadow centered was to hold the umbrella behind my back. Just a fun picture to remind me of my great find.....

Day #161 Balancing Act
While seating on my front porch reading a book on my kindle I noticed this dragonfly at the pond. He was really putting on a show so I went in and got my camera. It was a relaxing Saturday just hanging out around the house.

Day #160 Ready For Take Off
A trip to Brookside Gardens to see The Flight Of Fancy Butterfly Conservatory. It was like walking into a fairy land of butterflies. Had a wonderful time with friends that I went to high school with. So many different butterflies in one place. This is one of many a Zebra Longwing. It was a site to see....

Day # 159 Yesteryear
Didn't have to go far for todays picture. A neighbor up the street hung a tire swing in their front side yard a week or so ago and I knew it was going to end up in my project. While taking the photo two of the teenage girls arrived house to me standing in their yard with my camera. I was so focused on the swing that I think they got out of the car and stood there staring at me. "Just getting a picture of your swing"Yep I'm sure they thought " it's just our nutty neighbor down the street". Such a timeless picture .

Day #158 Water Spray
It was another visit to the Catoctin zoo and once again the shot is not an animal. Last POTD visit flower and this visit fountains. That season pass is going to come in handy because one day it will be an animal picture. It was so much nicer seeing monkeys roaming free in Costa Rica and bears enjoying salmon by a stream in Tahoe. All the bars and enclosures just seem wrong. They do seem to be treated well but I wonder if they are happy ?

Day #157 It's A Beautiful Morning
Driving to work this morning with a beautiful sky unfolding. Guess there was no need getting up yesterday for the sunrise picture because today was the day. Pulled off close to the same spot as yesterday got a few quick shots and still made it to work on time.

Day #156 Let There Be Light
Saw a couple great sunrises on my way to work last week and was going to get up early this past weekend to get a picture. Well that didn't happen but I did wake up early enough day and I haven't been able to get it off my mind so out the door I went. Thought for a change I'd make this sunrise B&W.

Day #155 Tick Weed Jungle
This butterfly/moth not sure which seemed to be hanging around my front yard pond the last couple days.Took a couple shots then went for a seven mile bike ride . Was a great spring weather type day but I was exhausted and hot by the time I got back. The beach is so much easier with no hills , I miss the beach.

Day # 154 After The Storms
Yesterday afternoon and evening the heavens opened up and really showed their fury. Closed all three airports and was breaking news on the local channels all night. Tornado warning and flooding happening all over. Passed by this early in the day yesterday when all was calm and planned on stopping to get a picture on the way home. It was raining as I passed it later so no picture. Woke up to sunny skies and amazing clouds so at 7 a.m. I decided to go get my picture. This is one of the cow pastures that made my project in March. I guess the farmer started mowing the field and for some reason didn't finish unhooked and rode the tractor home. Didn't see anything but the half mowed field and this apparatus and it screamed take my picture.

Day # 153 Single Shot
Got a single shot to get this butterfly before he flittered away. It's really the only shot I took today if you don't count the stormy clouds I took when I got home. It's now pouring with bad storms all over the area.
Anyway sometimes you get lucky because I think I did. SOOC
