Day #152 Day Dreamer

Thought I'd get some more pictures of my lovely sunflower . Headed out back and got a couple shots before my little fairy statuary caught my eye. Cleaned her up a little with the hose and came up with a few shots I liked. Was hard to pick just one so with the help of my husband this is the one that made my POTD.

Day #151 You Are My Sunshine

Bob made a donation to The National Wildlife Federation a good while ago and we started receiving  magazines which I have throughly enjoyed. Full of wonderful wildlife and nature photos. This months had a picture of a sunflower with sunglasses on. It was so cute I thought I'd give it a try. Didn't capture what I wanted inside so I took them outside. As I got lower and lower finally laying in the grass with the sun in my eyes I got a great idea. Moved flower to different spot and tried to get the sunburst. Found I needed to raise the flash and voila I had my picture.

Day #150 Beam Me Up Scotty

One of the perennial plants at the pond is starting to bloom. Wish I had kept the tags so I'd know what it is now. Maybe there's an app on my Ipad that will identify it. Looks like it belongs on another planet.

Day #149 A Day To Honor Our Hero's

Decided to go lay flowers at Bob's dad gravesite in Arlington National Ceremony. Got there when they opened at 8 am. There was a bit of a backup as you can imagine it being Memorial Day. It is a very beautiful yet sad place. So many lost to protect and preserve our freedom. They all share a common thread. Thank You For Serving

Day #148 One Last Look

I hate to go and leave this pretty site.
So long farewell I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
(sound of music)
My week at the beach is sadly over and home I go

Day #147 As The Daylight Goes

Goodbye bay sunsets it's time to head home and resume my life in Damascus,Md.

Day #146 Dawn

Up before dawn to see how the sunrise will unfold. Has been a very cloudy week at the beach but no rain so I'm not complaining. This morning was no different as the sun tries it's hardest to break through the clouds and burn off the lovely mist. This lone young man caught my eye as he walked out to the rocks and took out his phone while in the distance a young girl sits reading.

Day #145 Wild Ponies At The Bech

Took a short drive to assategue island this morning . On the lookout for the wild ponies that have lived here for around 300 years. Was lucky enough to come upon them by the side of the road. Pulled over and got this shot before they all spread out and eventually crossed the road in front of me to get over to the marshes . The ocean isn't very far behind them.

Day #144 Pier In The Mist

Was a very foggy day at the beach. The schools even had a 2 hour delay. Went out on my bike to see what I could see. This is someone's private pier behind their home. There's an empty lot beside it so walking that lot I got to the back and quickly got my picture.

Day #143 King Of The Beach

Seagulls go with Beach like Peanut Butter goes with Jelly and don't leave that sandwich unattended or this gull will grab it.

Day #142 Bunny On The Beach

Out for a bike ride on the street that will let you walk to the ocean and spotted this cute wild bunny. Think he was having his lunch of greens....

Day #141 Maryland Is For Crabs

Most states have a slogan and this is Maryland's.  If you want blue crabs this is where you will find the BEST. Saturday went out on my brother in laws pontoon boat and they threw over four crab pots in the bay. Sunday the guys went out and picked them up. It's very early in the season but there were a total of ten keepers.  Steamed them in Old Bay seasoning and we all had our first taste of crab this season... They were yummy.

Day #140 Sunrise Sunset

So far my favorite spot at the beach for sunset pictures. This is a different view from my Jan. 6 POTD. Going to have to go looking for a new spot.

Day # 139 Let's Get This Party Started

Stopped off at the Blackwater National Refuge on the way to the beach.  Couldn't believe all the Snowy Egret (I believe) just hangin out. It was a wonderful two hours .

Day # 138 Pretty Hairy

Not sure what type of plant this is but it sure had a different type of look to it. It's located at Blackhills Park in the butterfly gardens oustide the visitors center. Didn't see any butterflies but it was full of bees drinking from the flowers. I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of butterflies in this location soon.

Day #137 Spread Your Wings

I think I got a little to close for his/her comfort. There is a nest in the blue bird box that he is protecting. I believe he is an indigo blunting and doesn't seem to travel far from the box.

Day #135 Wild By The Pond

Yesterday was a lovely day for Mothers Day and today rain. That's what I call good timing. The lilies in my little pond have started blooming. While most are straight this one has a wild streak in it and a mind of it's own. It stopped raining just long enough to go out and get a couple shots. Rain is forecast for the next couple days. We do need it and it really helps clean the pollen out of the air for those that suffer from allergies.

Day #134 Call Me P Mantis

Guess they know their food has arrived and they have hatched out of their egg case which I photographed on Day 100. Not sure it was that case or a different one in the bushes. We located about 5 of them today. They are very tiny and hard to see but Bob seemed to have no problem finding them for me. I'm sure they will make this challenge at least one more time. My guess is they're about one tenth of their adult size right now.

Day #133 The Bandit

Bob caught the Bandit red handed last night. Knowing I wanted to get a picture he let him have his fun at the feeder and called for me to get the camera. Bandit has destroyed two feeders but now seems to have figured out how to empty it and leave no evidence that he was there. Sadly this morning Bob noticed a raccoon sleeping by the side of the road not far from the house. Hope it wasn't Bandit. " It wasn't Me and you can't prove It "

Day #132 Looking Up Part II

Eighty one days ago my blog picture was these three trees bare to the blue sky. They are connected to each other at the bottom of their trunks like conjoined triplets. Their bare limbs are now full of lovely green leaves which shade the path. The amazing thing is I found them once again to get this shot. Never forget to LookUp....

Day #131 We Will Always Protect You

There were baby geese all over this part of Blackhills lake today. Sadly somehow I missed seeing them when they were smaller.  They sure hiss a lot when you try to get close but that didn't stop me.

Day #130 I'm Sexy and I Know It

Had a great visit at Blackhills Park today and got some terrific shots. It was so hard to chose but since the goose, heron, and Tree Sparrow have already made it into my 366 project this female mallard was my winner.

Day # 128 Got My Eye On You

This little guy must have been really hungry instead for leaving he seemed to just watch me. Taken though the slider of my family room.

Day #127 Deer Crossing

I seemed to hit lunch time for the deer on my path walk today. At first I thought this guy was looking at my husband till two more deer crossed the path in front of my husband to get to him. They are kind of used to people on the path and don't always bolt. The path is now full of color.

Day #126 Chorus Line

These mini iris have started blooming around my mailbox. I'm sure if any of the neighbors happened to be looking they were laughing or scratching their heads as I go around and around trying to get a decent shot. It looks like my irises are laughing at me too :)

Day #125 Bumps On A Log

What happens when a tree falls into the lake? Looks like it becomes a turtle paradise. It's amazing how easily they climb this tree right out of the water. Have always though of turtles as slow moving creatures but let me tell you when I got too close there were turtles swan diving off the trunk so fast all you heard was plop, plop, plop.........Thanks Kathy for the turtle alert....

Day #124 Follow Me

Have pretty good shots from my walk around the lake but came home to this little bee hovering on the side of the house. He must have been looking for something because he just kept coming back. Had to turn the auto focus off because I just couldn't get him in focus. Did have a little luck doing it manually. BEE HAPPY !!!!

Day #123 Reflect

Took my car in for an oil change and some recall work this morning. Deciding to get some exercise instead of sitting in the lounge I packed a backpack and headed out to explore with my camera. Came across this lovely pond. The first thing that caught my eye was the reflection of the canoe although in the photo the tree reflections are what standout now to me. It was very overcast and not all of the morning  fog had lifted.

Day#122 Lovely Opening

From yesterdays purple to todays white. Here is one of my white clematis that has just started blooming on the side fence. It is shaded by my dogwood tree so is a little behind the full sun clematis on the street. I've always thought it was lovely but like so much this year I never fully saw all it's beauty.
